Meteorology Department
Skyward Energy’s Meteorology Department consists of highly skilled meteorologists and a veteran software developer. This select group has identified over 100 potential wind energy projects throughout the US. These 100 prospects are in varying stages of site acquisition and data collection. Nearly all of Skyward’s prospects could serve individually as the “crown jewel” in any developers’ wind energy portfolio.
Skyward's portfolio is made possible through the development of a high resolution wind resource model. Skyward’s meso-net of MET towers provides the insight to constantly evolve the wind resource model. The model provides several vital capabilities including:

  • Rapid, efficient site selection and evaluation.
  • Identification of prime land within a project for leasing priority.
  • Wind resource estimation, project level mapping for client specific prospects.
  • Detail rich, high resolution wind resource maps that include long term average wind speed estimates at various turbine hub heights with climatologically accurate wind speed and direction distributions.
  • Creation of model MET tower output files for use in micro-siting software such as GH WindFarmer.

While the atmospheric physics for the model is developed by the meteorologists; Skyward’s software developer provides a “force multiplier” effect for the Meteorology Department. The unique tools, software and methods used by this group allow the meteorologists to perform the work of many more. Poise, precision, and audacity-- the core of the Meteorology Department has helped propel SKYWARD Energy into its leading position as a green field developer in the wind industry. Dedication to these ideals combined with advanced technologies and methods will ensure a sustainable, successful future for Skyward Energy.
